Custom Headers for Office Live
If you have been attempting to use custom design tools such as SharePoint Designer 2007 then you are probably somewhat baffled by Office Live. Fortunately, as of yesterday (2/10/08), someone decided to sneak in a new feature that allows customization of the Header, Footer and Navigation bar without the need for any special editing tools. So, if you have been annoyed by the limited selection of header designs and the Office Live tag at the bottom of your page then you are in luck. However, you will need to be familiar with XML in order to make custom changes to these areas so this might not be a solution for everyone but its a step in the right direction. The advanced features can be activated within the website administration area under the “Site actions” drop down.
After enabling the advanced design features you will see additional options within the site designer. Using the page editor tool select the modules drop down menu and you will see some new options listed for editing the header and footer areas.
