Vista Trouble? - Microsoft Extends Support for Windows XP
Its no surprise really. The Apple guy is kicking the crap out of the pseudo Bill Gates on a nightly basis between prime time sitcoms while Microsoft continues the impossible defense of Vista with the Mohave experiment. I use Vista and it is really nice but the system requirements are staggering and when you throw Windows XP on the same hardware you end up with a blazingly fast system by comparison.
"In the face of demand for continued access to Windows XP and dissatisfaction with Vista, Microsoft has moved out the time frame for downgrade rights to XP from Jan. 31 2009 to July 31, 2009, The Register reported last week." - CRN
"Windows Vista is a bloated pig of an operating system. In fact, compared to Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or 3, Vista requires roughly twice the hardware resources to deliver comparable performance. Even stripped to the bone, with every new UI enhancement turned off and every new background service disabled, Vista is a good 40 percent slower than XP at a variety of business productivity tasks." - Infoworld
There are some great features in Vista that make it fun to use, like the widget toolbar, but lets face it fun doesn’t equate to a desire to upgrade. If you happen to be one of the few individuals trying to make the best of Vista then you might want to check out the Vista Performance Guide from Microsoft. I personally like Vista but I really whish the performance was at least comparable to XP. Anyway, who knows what the future holds? We might have to wait for windows 7…..
