Adding a Custom Template to Office Live
In order to add a template to office live you will first need to find or create one. Additionally, you will need to have a one of the paid versions of office live vs. the free or basic version. A template is a pre-constructed website that conforms to the office live requirements for layout and application interaction.
- To add a template select business applications and then add application.
- Select to upload a template
- This provides the upload dialog box which will allow you to upload your template file.
- After uploading the template it will show up within the custom applications section
You no longer need a paid version of Office Live to use this feature. There is no basics, essentials, premium anymore. It’s just all one thing. You do need to ‘turn on’ the business applications, but that is free.

Thank you for the update. I haven’t looked at this in a while as I have been playing with the XML Header/Footer and packaging the solutions. Once I have that all documented I plan to post that information as well. Thanks again for your feedback as Office Live appears to be a rapidly evolving platform!

We might want to differentiate the Business Applications Template from the Custom list template. And also provide examples of how to use the Custom list template once you have created one.
How do you ‘turn on’ the business applications? I want to upload a custom web template.

I want to upload a web template to my website. I tried all I could but was not able to figure out. I also followed the procedure written above that is mentioned above (Adding a custom template to office live)
but when I click on add applications under business applications it does not give me option upload Template. Can you help me how to do so?
